Our Mission

In our increasingly troubled world, there is a need for a new generation of social workers with a commitment to global and endemic problems faced by communities everywhere. As many continue to battle with HIV/AIDS, poverty, gender based violence, child trauma/abuse and major conflict, the social work profession has the ability to directly intervene by focusing on individuals, families, groups and communities to facilitate positive social change with evidence based practice models. Social Workers’ ability to engage in clinical work, provide therapeutic intervention and psychosocial support, develop relevant policy and research, undertake advocacy, and evaluate resulting outcomes underpins the importance and centrality of the social work profession in responding to global issues.
